The thought of working for myself always felt like such a powerful idea.
Especially during a time like Covid, when the world felt uncertain and everything we once knew started to change. Businesses were closing, jobs felt unstable and nobody really knew what the future was going to look like. There was so much uncertainty around us, and for me, it created a feeling that I needed to think beyond my current reality.
When you become a mother, something shifts inside you. Your dreams are no longer just about you. You start thinking about your children, their future, the opportunities you want them to have and the life you want to create for them.
That hunger was always there for me. The desire to build something bigger, something that could create freedom and security for my family.
I remember the thought of becoming a CEO. It sounded powerful. It sounded like independence. The idea of being able to create my own path, make my own decisions and have more control over my financial future felt like the perfect vision.
But at that point, it was only a vision.
A thought. An idea. A decision that I wanted something different.
What I didn’t fully understand yet was the reality behind the dream.
The title sounded exciting, but I hadn’t considered everything that came with building a business. The time, the sacrifices, the learning, the consistency, the discipline and the balance that would be required.
I was looking at the destination without fully understanding the journey.
Motherhood itself was already teaching me a completely different way of life. I was learning how to balance being a mother, managing responsibilities and still trying to discover who I was beyond that role.
Looking back, I realise that every business journey starts somewhere. Sometimes it doesn’t start with a clear plan or all the answers. Sometimes it starts with a feeling that there has to be more, that you are capable of creating more, even if you don’t know exactly how yet.
This was the beginning of my journey.
Not the beginning of a business.
The beginning of a mindset shift.
